    Yesterday was busy for us.
Our family had some nice things going on, just like everyone, some related to our work, some our kids. There is a big overlap in those two.
Always. Just liked the picture i took above with my new replacement camera.

My husband yearly mounts a Music Festival for his District at Mesa. It was yesterday ALL Day, for him 7AM to 9PM, everyone else 10 to 8.
Here he is performing with a friend, I lost all the clips I took with a camera learning curve issue:

It's a nice time with area children from young to old, many community people just performing music for their community. This year I missed too much, BECAUSE my daughter was going to her Prom, but what I saw was a pleasure.
And I bought a new camera for both occasions, having drown mine in a coke in my purse a week ago. It needs an new LCD or something display.
I do not really like the new one as much, but perhaps we will learn one another.

First on the subject of proms. My older daughter did not go saying she felt she was not "a prom person" but I think afraid a bit too. Her friends offered to take her. She was like me in that respect. Sophia was afraid enough to go through with it, and this AM coming back in at 6 from Universal Studios looks delighted. Tired though. I did not help her get her dress or shoes, her Dad did that. I tried in the shoes and failed. She just picked with him very sweet lovely things that definitely were "her."
    Here's a photo or two...

Okay I realize I could look at all 72 pictures but not everyone is into that.
If you are, hey go here. (She wouldn't tell me the guy's name until the day before, but I kind of knew from her sister's guess. She's into privacy. It's Ish.)

    Very lovely.

I came and went at the lovely Mesa Music Festival ( my husband's District) seeing my husband perform in the AM with Mr. VanKeersblilck. Of course I lost the video clips I took of them. Due to pressing the wrong series of things on the new camera. Of course.
They did Country Roads for me too.

I missed most of the youth keyboard group lead by Dr. Wang and missed Janice Lindsay. She's from Parachute Express. Maybe next year.

I missed the Mesa Talent Show and sadly the High School Bands. They had four great performances. It's too bad so many won't come over, busy time of year I guess.
He made sure to give every performer really thoughtful nice gifts that were a way to say thanks.
The Mesa Union Foundation helps support this as do ticket sales. It's lovely.

But I did see the Inlakech and Baile Folklorico directed by Javier Gomez, the guy does this for the community kid's and it's an incredible Oxnard asset.

Actually here is the set of the festival photo's:

I saw the Togen Daiko Drummers from the local Buddhist Temple

a rare and wonderful treat and then he had something he looked forward to doing with the kid's making up bands...in garages..... the Battle of the Band's. This year Jack had the idea to showcase teen bands. Mostly I laughed. I'm sorry.

    I mean laughed:

It was a fun day dedicated to community music.

A lot goes into any festival, not the least of which is the vision and support necessary to decide to do it. Fun day.

About Me
My Photo
I'm a public school elementary teacher from W.V. beginning my career in poverty schools in the 1980's. (I have GIST cancer-small intestinal and syringomyelia which isn't what I want to define me but does help define how I view the meaning of my life.) I am a mom of 3 great children-now grown. I teach 3rd grade in an Underperforming school, teaching mostly immigrant 2nd Lang. children. I majored in art, as well as teaching. Art informs all I do. Teaching is a driving part of my life energy. But I am turning to art soon. I'm married to an artist I coaxed into teaching- now a Superintendent of one of the bigger Districts in the area. Similar population. We both have dedicated inordinate amounts of our life to the field of teaching in areas of poverty hoping to give students opportunities to make better lives. I'm trying to write as I can to the issues of PUBLIC education , trying to gain the sophistication to address the issues in written forms so they can be understood from my teaching contexts.I like to blog from daily experiences. My work is my own, not reflective of any school district.
