Hi, I'm a public school elementary teacher living in CA coming from W.V. in my 20's in the 1980's. (I have GIST cancer-small intestinal and syringomyelia which isn't what I want to define me but does help define how I view the meaning of my life.) I am now an amazed 50. I am a mom of 3 great teens. I teach 1st grade Sheltered Immersion in a 5th year Underperforming school, teaching immigrant children. Sometimes my anecdotal writing about the face of NCLB in real children's lives is out on the web...I have nothing but respect for those willing to speak the truth about this educational nightmare. I majored in art, teaching is a driving part of my life energy. I'm married to an artist I coaxed into teaching who is now a Superintendent of one of the smaller Districts in the area. We both have dedicated inordinate amounts of our life to the field of teaching in areas of poverty. I'm trying to write as I can to the issues which involve the erosion and degradation of the notion of PUBLIC education under NCLB... trying to gain the sophistication to address the issues in written forms so they can be understood from my teaching contexts.I like to blog from daily experiences.

Thank you...I don't think the people in my life for the most part really know it exists!
But...
Maybe one day they'll have reason to go see who I was.
