The Goose That Laid A Pysanky

Great title.
Actually I'm so non-traditional all I've really done is use the wax and dyes.More batik than psyanky. But I'm pleased I got a shipment of goose eggs today. I've never gotten to decorate a goose egg but I have always wanted to. And this was my first one:

Speaking of eggs, I read a blog post today. In my school and sometimes coming into my class I'll see these eggs made by Mexican families. Filled with confetti, broken if possible over a good sports unaware head. So I found all all about them here. They are called I learned Cascarones.
I've wondered. But often my little ones just say "eggs." Thanks to this great blog for that has really been something I wanted to learn more about.

Go check it out!

  1. Hi, Sarah.

The eggs are beautiful! As always. You are so talented.

Thank you for linking to my site. I really appreciate it. I did not know re: cascarones until another Spanish teacher mentioned them. Not sure if I am feeling as creative as you to make them. But, I am contemplating purchasing some for my students to enjoy. They're not very expensive.

  2. Just this year on the last day of school a child brought baskets for each child , it was very simple. Obviously they were so poor. Anyway in each they'd made three of these for each child. The confetti was made out of nespaper, gift wrap. So i was trying to find out both how they did it and the name, tradition. But the child caught between languages and so young couldn't tell me too much.I thought I need to figure this out.
And you did it for me!
    Thank you.
