Kind of Blue because I could find it in my room. Turns out my class likes jazz.
Which I believe to be a first. So I feel compelled to teach a small coure in something I do know. Or love anyway.
A great many (9) had a teacher last year that taught them jazz, (she rushed to say this playing of some jazz ONE TIME supported one story-) "too bad" I said, "jazz ought to be taught in isolation." And heard all the time.
Ha Ha. That's how we teach a lot of the rest of the content now. Isolated. Thank you political tinkerers.
Every time I turned Kind of Blue on I thought of Blu, the kitty. He roomed with my daughter and her roommate the four years they were at CalTech, no-wait-take away one year-they got him after a year. He came from a shelter. He had a cold at first. And I think he might have gone through something before he got to them. Blu was very shy, and very stealthy. And quite the love. I doubt it ever occurred to him that cats ae predators. I'm not sure he ever went outside. But he had lymphoma and for quite awhile he's been fighting such a lot.
This morning, I learned, he lost his battle. So I'm blue. With no entendre. Worried about the east coast, sad for these girls that raised him.
It amazes me that I spent time with Blu and we really didn't speak together-but I have a sense of communication. Actually Blu quite easily communicated. I especially liked "go away."
He'd come home with Sylvia sometimes at winter, spring breaks..once we sort of spent a few days together. And I'd go sit with him all night for company. It was a very special treat for me. we talked about serious illness. Actually. And I loved his humor.
So in honor of the kitty that liked to turn that music up wayyyyy highhh...Blu.
