I am a public school teacher, artist, mother and I write from perspectives as all three to things that seem compelling....with a hope it creates community and cross-communication in a busy world and life. I value human connectivity greatly. Beautiful Pencil Illustrations of MLK
In a series of posts I've been showing here the last day or so what my students drew for Dr. King's holiday. Hanging in our room right now are large portraits.
Today I passed out each child's acrostic poem which they had typed. They drew AGAIN and did delicate pencil portraits, entirely on their own, looking at a photograph of Dr. King.
These were then copied in sets so I could bind as books.
These shaded drawings just fit the pages so perfectly.
After school I bound our books.
We try to make a book a week, which we read and share as a part of ELD.
It is an extremely valuable art of the experience of sharing oral English, the children read what they wrote to the group, or partner and read one another. I call this "Author's Circle."
I'm thrilled frankly at this book, it is extremely beautiful. Please watch the slide presentation. It's like a show of jazz players- a beautiful book.
