Looking at My Sky

This morning, as every teacher might say, I felt my job.

It fatigues the mind to start a year. Meeting new children, being tested to see if you will be a this or a that. The work "ahead". So this morning waking was not easy. I often wake at 5AM but today it felt like 2AM. And of course it takes a bit to work into the routine even if you did work summer school and tons to prepare (read clean). So ......coming downstairs I went to take my morning sky pictures. For my classblog I'm taking these photo's of the sky. The children will take over in a week. A kind of log of our sky. In our 1st grade we are expected to cover "weather" and I plan to do this by inviting the sky into our room. Children will regularly record weather conditions and as our literacy and writing skills grow the task will expand. A bit better than Weather Bear. But I do miss Weather Bear and putting on his little clothes. I think this is fascinating for them, just using the camera seems breath taking. They are very excited.

All this by way of sharing a rainbow. I never saw it. I was turned to the sunrise. My daughter pulled my attention to the rainbow. The morning opened with thunder and was humid, sticky all day. She said this coming from a storm in Mexico. So it was very dramatic.

A morning rainbow.

  1. Hi, Sarah.

This post is a metaphor for so many things, both personal and professional.

It's wonderful that you will have your young ones blogging, and integrating photography into the process.
