The Tree of Life
Today in my summer school volunteering we finished our "rocks". In theory done, though I think Thursday I'll go back so they can do a bit more refining if needed.
I want to try construction bugs (just bugs in 3D constructed of colored paper), or love bugs, or possibly origami buglets for those wanting something different. Or flutterbys. Or these gorgeous banners on plastic with permanent markers of fish I see in my head that hang in their big windows with light shining through, making an aquarium. I may have to do it just to see it done, okay will do it. I'm very thrilled with making right now. Behind on everything else.
We found out Flickr has excellent bug shows , wow the photographers kick there, and that was an extra inspiration Adam Truxler set up running on a Smart Board as screen for kids to watch. He is Terri Truxler's grown son, our friend who is lost to us, she worked in Hueneme School District for my husband, at my present school and is sooooo sorely missed....he is going to do a PHD in a program that my husband has connection with through his wonderful teachers in Santa Barbara. Starting this fall. Biologist. As we worked he ran Apple carts full of these lovely IMacs and the kids did a bit of photo making on digital cameras, printing and documenting. Fun. I like all these rocks below made by kids ages 5 to 13. But when placed out in Mesa's gardens they will really be amazing.
But still to go the Polyurethane.Ugh. Adult job.
Today they finished work with permanent markers and gold and silver paint markers. It was very calm, very nice so I painted a rock for a friend, my tree. I have to do a bit of finish work on it yet.
